Thank you for your generous gift in memory of the life and work of Dr. Darrol Bryant. Darrol was a professor at Renison for over 30 years, from 1973 until his retirement in 2005. During this period he also served as Acting Principal in 1997. After retiring, Darrol received the honour of Distinguished Professor Emeritus, and in 2010 became a Renison Senior Fellow.
Darrol and Susan have both been very active members of the Renison community. Darrol remained an academic, serving as Director of Renison’s Centre for Dialogue and Spirituality in the World Religions long into retirement; his gentle nature and natural curiosity led him to many deep conversations with countless members of the Renison community. He is dearly missed.
In addition to his many years of teaching, research and service, Darrol’s lasting legacy can be seen throughout the gardens at Renison. Each spring and fall, regardless of weather, Darrol and Susan could be seen pruning, raking, weeding and carefully tending to the gardens. The Bryant Stone Garden, central to the One Sky Garden, is now anchored by three Mongolian basalt columns, gifts from Darrol and Susan, and is home to our stone garden rituals for students, staff and faculty, providing a permanent foundation for the many lives and stories that our community holds.
Donations Matched for the rest of June, 2025
For the rest of June, a generous donor has agreed to match donations in honour of Darrol Bryant up to $2000, which means a total of $4,000 will go to students if we meet that threshold.
Your gift in Darrol’s name, will be used to help support Renison University College and our students. In this way, you are not only memorializing Darrol, but continuing to support his life’s work. Thank you.
If you have questions about this, or any of our funds, please contact Cort Egan, Director of External Relations and Communications.
